A group of people had gathered at 88th Place and Broadway for a candlelight memorial in honor of Daquan Allen, who was gunned down about 12:15 p.m. at the same location on Sunday, according to police.
A gunman walked up to the mourners around 10:10 p.m. and opened fire, said Sgt. William Segee, the watch commander at Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Station.
Two females and a male were struck by gunfire in the leg and shoulder areas. The victims were taken to hospitals, where they were listed in stable condition, said LAPD Officer Karen Rayner.
Police believe the gunman, who was on foot, belongs to a local gang, Segee said.
On Sunday afternoon, Allen was walking on the street with another person when he was shot, said LAPD Detective Sal LaBarbera. He said the boy is not believed to have been a gang member.
